The Secret Way To Capture Your Youth With Makeup
The 'Youthful Glow'. That energetic healthy beauty; you know glowing skin, little blemishes and just that bright eyed look. Is that exclusive preserve if you are a certain age or can you master that and become a member of the eternal youth cult no matter what your age??
So what's the secret? In fact, it all comes down to our use of beauty products; looking younger is actually pretty simple.
#1: SKINCARE IS SERIOUSLY IMPORTANT
Skincare is essential to getting a youthful look. Serums full of hyaluronic acid and moisturisers that leave skin dewy. Use an eye cream and face oils every morning to keep skin looking really smooth and plump under foundation.
A smooth complexion can erase the years, if you are not naturally blessed with a blemish free complexion use retinol based products (find a natural alternative here) that leave your skin tone much clearer and fresher.
A great little tip? For an even more smooth complexion use a face primer to help diffuse the look of fine lines and open pores. Apply underneath your [makeup] after your skincare for the perfect flawless face.
#2: SKIP THE HEAVY FOUNDATION
Ok, so this is what you need to know about foundation. It does not have to be sitting like a heavy mask on the face. In fact; while flawless skin is key, you won't get that by using tons of foundation. Get rid of your flaws but not at the expense of all that foundation finding its way into your folds and creases.
So ditch the heavy version and go for a tinted moisturiser. The most brilliant one is the one you mix yourself. Few drops of your favourite foundation combined with a facial oil or moisturiser gives you that fresh illuminated base.
#3: KEEP EYE MAKEUP SUBTLE
We have all been there. You are sixteen and you paint your eyes like a panda. Fun when you are a teen but as you /mature' stick to a thin line of (liquid) eyeliner with a small flick to give a clean and natural finish to my face which works like a very cheap face lift.
#4: BLUSH FOR A FLUSH OF YOUTH
A cream blush applied to the apple of the cheeks can add youthful radiance and volume to the face, where it typically begins to sag and thin out as we age.
If you're wondering what kind of colour to go for: go for rosy peach tones if you have a light to medium complexion, and fuschia based pinks if you have a medium to dark complexion (it will "open the face and leave it looking fresh)"
#5: USE UNDER-EYE CONCEALER SPARINGLY
While you might think that erasing those dark circles is key, the truth is that under your eyes can give away your age more than anything else, as it will only sit in your lines. Anything thick and heavy will just sit in all your lines (no matter how fine) and attract attention.
Instead, keep things light. Prep the skin with a moisturising eye cream, and keep the touch light.
#6: HIGHLIGHTER IS YOUR FRIEND
Fact? Highlighter is your friend. Use on the eyelids for an instantly brighter and more youthful expression.
If you want to take the youthful glow to a next level, mix a highlighter with your foundation or add a little wash of highlighter to brighten after you've added blush to the apples of your cheeks.
#7: CURLED EYELASHES + THICK EYEBROWS ARE A MUST
The best trick is to open out your eyes by curling your eyelashes. First curl the lash, then apply Kjaer Weiss Mascara (coming soon) for that real lifted and wide-eyed look,.
As for your brows, they should be full thin or limp brows are really ageing. A full brow really gives a youthful structure to the face.
